Library News for the Week of February 19, 2024

Winter Reading Program – Adrian & Worthington:

  • The Winter Reading Program is nearing the halfway point and ends March 30th!  Come in to either library branch to sign up and get your punch card.
  • Read twelve books (or audio books/e-books) and bring your punch card back to choose your prize.
  • After you’ve turned in your completed card(s), be sure to fill out a raffle ticket for the grand prize drawing!
  • Must be at least 16 years old to participate.

 

Happening at the Worthington Library for Adults:

  • Monday, February 19th: CLOSED for Presidents’ Day
  • Wednesday, February 21st:  AARP – “Online Fraud & Cyber Crimes” from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. at Ecumen Meadows
  • Monday, February 26th: Friends of the Library Book Club at 6:00 p.m.  We will be discussing the book, “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee.  All are welcome!
  • Tuesday, February 27th:  Board Game Night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. (ages 18+ please)

 

Happening at the Adrian Library:

  • Monday, February 19th: CLOSED for Presidents’ Day
  • Tuesday, February 27th: Teen Night from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. Snacks and refreshments provided!
  • Saturday, March 2nd: Polymer Clay Jewelry with Etta from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m.  Learn how to make polymer clay jewelry!  (ages 13+ please)

 

Happening at the Worthington Library for Youth:

  • After School Programs:
    • Mondays (grades 4-9):  Wii from after school until 4:45 p.m.
    • Tuesdays (grades K-5):  Kids Club from after school until 4:45 p.m.
    • Wednesdays (toddlers-preschoolers):  Story Time from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
    • Wednesdays (girls grades 5-9):  Just Gurlz from after school until 4:45 p.m.
    • Thursdays (grades K-5):  Kids Club from after school until 4:45 p.m.
  • Please call the library at 507-295-5340 to sign your children up.  You are responsible for your own ride to and from the library; please have your children picked up by 5:00 p.m.

  • Fun fact: In 2023, Worthington patrons saved a grand total of $855,139.20 by using the library and Adrian patrons saved $172,349.70!

 

Nobles County Art Center:

  • Through February 27th, the library and the Art Center will be offering a collaborative art experience with Dan Wahl, called, “Horse Meditations”.  This will be in the main part of the library and should be a fun, interactive experience for all ages!  Come and relax in the “Meditation Cave” in the Art Center!
  • Art Club meets the fourth Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m. – there is no cost to join and all are welcome!
