Library News for the Week of January 2, 2024

Holiday Closing:

  • The Worthington and Adrian libraries will be closed on Saturday, January 13th and Monday, January 15th in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

 

Winter Reading Program – Adrian & Worthington:

  • The Winter Reading Program has begun and ends March 30th!  Come in to either library branch to sign up and get your punch card.
  • Read twelve books (or audio books/e-books) and bring your punch card back to choose your prize.
  • After you’ve turned in your completed card(s), be sure to fill out a raffle ticket for the grand prize drawing!
  • Must be at least 16 years old to participate.

 

Happening at the Worthington Library for Adults:

  • Tuesday, January 9th: “Pirates: Predators of the Seas” with Arn Kind from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
  • Tuesday, January 16th: Board Game Night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. (ages 18+ please)
  • Tuesday, January 23rd: AARP HomeFit Workshop from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. (via Zoom, please register in advance)
  • Monday, January 29th: Friends of the Library Book Club at 6:00 p.m.  We will be discussing the book, “The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell” by Robert Dugoni.  All are welcome!

 

Happening at the Worthington Library for Youth:

  • After School Programs:
    • Mondays (grades 4-9):  Wii from after school until 4:45 p.m.
    • Tuesdays (grades K-5):  Kids Club from after school until 4:45 p.m.
    • Wednesdays (toddlers-preschoolers):  Story Time from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
    • Wednesdays (girls grades 5-9):  Just Gurlz from after school until 4:45 p.m.
    • Thursdays (grades K-5):  Kids Club from after school until 4:45 p.m.
  • Please call the library at 507-295-5340 to sign your children up.  You are responsible for your own ride to and from the library; please have your children picked up by 5:00 p.m.

Nobles County Art Center:

  • The library and the Art Center are offering a collaborative art experience with Dan Wahl, called, “Don’t Doubt Your Horses”. This will be in the main part of the library and should be a fun, interactive experience for all ages!  Join us in the Art Center for an opening reception on Sunday, January 7th from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
  • Art Club meets the fourth Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m. – there is no cost to join and all are welcome!
