Library News for the Week of May 29, 2023

Summer Reading Programs for Youth – Worthington

  • The Summer Reading Programs begin Tuesday, June 13th and go through the beginning of August. 
  • Please stop by the library or call 507-295-5340 to sign up your kids on or before June 9, 2023.
  • Schedule:
    • Tuesdays: Teens (grades 6-12) – from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
    • Wednesdays: Story Time (Preschool – Kindergarten) – from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
    • Wednesdays: Grades 1st-3rd – from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.
    • Thursdays: Grades 4th and 5th – from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m.
  • You are responsible for your own ride to and from the library.
  • Preschool through 5th grade youth attending the programs will receive a reading log, then they earn library dollars for reading.  Every 60 minutes read, earn one library dollar to spend at the Nobles County Library Store!
  • Grades 6-12 attending the programs will receive Bingo sheets and instructions of how to earn money for the Teen Auction.

    • Thursday, June 8th at 10:00 a.m. – The Jolly Pops
      (Funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund)
    • Wednesday, June 14th at 10:00 a.m. – Reading Rabbits
      (Funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund)
      Thursday, June 15th at 1:00 p.m. – Ralph Covert
      (Funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund)
    • Tuesday, June 20th at 2:00 p.m. – Mobile Signs
      (Funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund)
    • Thursday, June 22nd at 9:00 p.m. – Movie Night on the Lawn

  • Summer Reading Programs begin June 7th and go through August.
  • Story Time – Come listen to stories, sing songs and learn rhymes that spark a love of reading!  No need to register.
    • Every Wednesday in June, July and August
    • From 12:10 – 12:50 p.m.
  • Arts & Activities – There will be a variety of crafts and games for all ages throughout the summer.  Please register by calling 507-483-2541 or e-mail adrianlib@co.nobles.mn.us
    • Every Wednesday in June, July and August
    • From 1:00 to 2:15 p.m.
  • All events are free and open to the public.
  • Don’t forget to record your reading in your Summer Log! 

 

Summer Reading Program – Special Events – Adrian

  • Special Events for all ages (no regular programs these weeks):
    • Wednesday, June 14th at 12:30 p.m. – Reading Rabbits (at the Adrian Branch Library)
      • Books and bunnies!  Take advantage of this unique opportunity to interact with rabbit while learning about them, with Allysa from J.K. Pasture Farm by Morgan, MN.
    • Wednesday, June 19th at 1:30 p.m. – Climb Theatre Presents:  The Ant & The Grasshopper (at the Adrian Elementary Commons)
      • This presentation combines the fable’s characters with games and interactive play.  Guests will learn anything is possible when we work together!  Climb is an award winning theater company out of Inner Grove Heights, MN.  Their performances are enjoyed by people of all ages.

 

Other Happenings in the Library – Worthington

  • Nobles County Art Center:
    • Now Showing:  Annual Area Art Show
      • This show opened on April 2nd and is on display until June 30th – come view local artist’s work!
    • Art Club – if you’re interested in joining the Art Club, we meet the 4th Tuesday of every month at 5:30 p.m.
      • There is no cost to join and we have fun – all are welcome!
    • The Art Center is located in the basement of the Nobles County Library.
  • Friends of the Library:
    • Friends of the Library Book Club
      • Book Club will not meet in June.
      • The next gathering will be Monday, July 31st at 6:00 p.m. – we will be discussing the book “The Undocumented Americans” by Karla Cornejo Villavicencio.
      • Please join us in person at the library or on Zoom!  All are welcome!
    • Friends of the Library Annual Meeting:
      • Thursday, June 8th at 5:05 p.m. at the Nobles County Library (Conference Room #2)
