Library News for the Week of October 16, 2023

Happening at the Worthington Library for Adults:

  • Fall Book Sale – Wednesday, October 18th through Friday, October 20th during regular business hours, in our Book Sale Room.  Everything is only 25 cents!  Our book sales are open to the public – not restricted only to library card users.
  • Programs for Adults – Tuesday, October 24th:  “Antiques: What to do with the family treasures?” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. – presented by Mary Jean Pigman
  • Friends of the Library Book Club will meet Monday, October 23rd at 6:00 p.m..  The book being discussed is “Demon Copperhead” by Barbara Kingsolver.  All are welcome!


Happening at the Worthington Library for Youth:

  • Halloween Carnival & Haunted Mad Lab:  Grades K-5 – join us Friday, October 20th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. for our Halloween Carnival!  Wear your costume and come play games, make trick-or-treat bags, go through the Haunted Mad Lab and MORE!  No need to register, this is an open house carnival.
  • After School Programs:
    • Mondays (grades 4-9):  Wii from after school until 4:45 p.m.
    • Tuesdays (grades K-5):  Kids Club from after school until 4:45 p.m.
    • Wednesdays (toddlers-preschoolers):  Story Time from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
    • Wednesdays (girls grades 5-9):  Just Gurlz from after school until 4:45 p.m.
    • Thursdays (grades K-5):  Kids Club from after school until 4:45 p.m.
  • Please call the library at 507-295-5340 to sign your children up.  You are responsible for your own ride to and from the library; please have your children picked up by 5:00 p.m.


Happening at the Adrian Library:

  • Wood Burning Program – Saturday, November 4th from 10:30 to 12:00 p.m., come join us for “Wood Burning with Mikaiah”!  Learn about the art of wood burning and then make your own coaster.  Please call the library at 507-483-2541 or e-mail to register for this program.  (ages 13 and older please)  This program is funded through the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
  • Halloween Kids Craft – Stop in Thursday, October 19th through Saturday, October 21st during regular business hours to get craft supplies for your child to make a Halloween ornament and check out some Halloween books!

Nobles County Art Center:

  • Art Show Information:  “Homestead Photography” by Magnolia, Minnesota native, Sarah Sampedro will show through Friday, October 27th.  The annual Holiday Show (Nov.-Dec.) is coming up soon, if you’re interested in participating please stop in or contact us, as space is limited.  (no entry fee)
  • Art Club meets the fourth Monday of every month at 5:30 p.m. – there is no cost to join and all are welcome!
  • The Art Board is looking for a volunteer member.  The board meets on the third Monday of each month for an hour.  Please contact us if you’re interested!
  • The Art Center is located in the lower level of the Nobles County Library.  Hours are Monday-Friday, 12:00 to 4:00 p.m.  Contact us at 507-372-8245 or
